GARLAND OF JASMINE

India, 2010. It was my first trip abroad. All I had with me was a simple digital point-and-shoot camera. But that was the moment I realized photography was something I wanted to pursue—documentary, street, and exploratory photography in particular.

I’m not sure if you need to live in a country for an extended period to truly see it and its people for who they really are, beyond the veil of first impressions, and to capture a deeper, more essential layer. Or perhaps what I managed to glimpse in those two weeks is exactly what this country is: a mysterious, vibrant place, full of raw, unfiltered magic?
